Ronnie "Ron" Sanders,69, passed away at Community Hospital North on Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Alva Jr. and Gladys P. (Miller) Sanders on September 7, 1951.
Ron graduated from New Palestine High School in 1970 and continued with a bachelor's degree in business from Anderson College. He went on to work alongside his father at their family business, Shambles Furniture Restoration. Ron took over the business in 1997 and was currently still working. Ron was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church and the Gideons organization, former president of the National Road Association and Sugar Creek Twp. Board. Ron had a passion for photography and put it to use as a wedding photographer and worked for Associated Press as a photographer for the Indianapolis 500, Talladega, Daytona and the Brickyard 400. Ron enjoyed hunting with his brother-in-law, Wayne and the annual family shootout. Also, restoring his old Model T, and something about restoring history inspired Ron. He loved scuba diving, spending time with his family and researching family history.
Ron is survived by his wife Jennye Sanders, two daughters, Ashley (Chad) Clark, Andrea Sanders, a granddaughter Lilly Clark, a sister Jeannette (Wayne) Tucker, two step brothers; Richard Harris (Anna), Kenny Harris (Carla), a step sister Marsha Coley (Frank), and his dog Sasha Belle, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, a step mother, Mary Ellen Harris- Sanders, a sister, Connie Rausch and a step sister, Dollie Zito.
A funeral service for Ron will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. at Franklin Road Baptist Church, 51 N. Franklin Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. Friends and family may call from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service on Thursday.
A private family burial will take place on Friday at New Palestine Cemetery.
