Lois Askren Kennedy, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021. Lois was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 26, 1933, to William Spencer and Helen Fern (Van Sickle) Askren. She attended Warren Central High School through her junior year and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
After living in Florida, raising two daughters, and retiring, Lois moved back to Indiana. She lived in the old family home and surrounding farm where she grew up with many happy memories. She renewed her association with the Old Bethel Methodist Church, where her family had worshiped for generations.
Lois's professional career was as a medical technologist for Tampa General Hospital. She was a proud member of the Sigma Kappa Tau Chapter at Indiana University, the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter, NSDAR, and an associate member of the Brandywine Creek Chapter, NSDAR. She shared her love of animals by caring for and supporting various animal charities. She was a loving friend, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by many.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Fern Askren, daughter Karen Kennedy, and brothers Harold Askren and Paul Askren.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Dedre Henderson, Denver, CO, son-in-law, Michael Henderson, grandson Matthew Henderson, and granddaughter, Jaclyn Henderson.
A graveside service will be held at Anderson Cemetery on October 18,2021 at 1:30 pm.
The family would like to thank Community Health Hospice, Clearvista Lake Health Campus, and friends and family for their compassionate care for Lois.
